Speaking Naturally
Communication Skills in American English
Bruce Tillitt, Mary Newton Bruder
Speaking Naturally is for students learning
to make appropriate linguistic choices in a variety of situations.
Each unit focuses on a language function, such as asking for information,
thanking, complimenting, and inviting. Readings explain the cultural
"rules" students need to know in real-life situations. Short recorded
dialogs expose students to a range of American accents. Structured
exercises as well as freer role plays, often involving pairs or
small groups, encourage interaction in the classroom.
". . . the dialogs are varied, interesting, and
authentic . . . No matter what level your conversation class is,
Speaking Naturally is a text
you will want to consider."
