Cloud Story
Objective: To develop prediction skills; to focus students' attention on key information
Steps:
- Draw a cloud on the board. Inside the cloud write key information from the Reading passage.
- Books closed. Have students predict what the Reading is about. Encourage them to work out what the information in the cloud refers to.
- Have them look through the Reading, and check if they were correct.
Example: The following example is for New Interchange 2, Unit 6: "Sure. No Problem!" The Reading, "Summer in the Country," appears on p. 39 of the Student's Book.
Adaptation: This activity works well with Readings that contain factual information and those that contain narratives.
