Present the Snapshot
Objective: To involve the students actively; to provide speaking practice
Steps:
- A few days before beginning a new unit or cycle, ask students to read and prepare the Snapshot. Tell them that they will have to talk about it.
- When you reach the Snapshot, have students work in pairs or small groups.
- In pairs or groups, students take turns to talk about one part of the Snapshot. They should summarize the text, not read it aloud or speak it from memory. The others can ask questions if they wish.
Example: The following example is for New Interchange 2, Unit 8: "Let's Celebrate!" The Snapshot appears on p. 46 of the Student's Book.

Example Dialog Between Students:
Student 1:
| Can you tell us about Valentine's Day?
|
Student 2:
| Sure. It's on February 14. It's a special day because it's about love.
|
Student 3:
| What do people do on Valentine's Day?
|
Student 2:
| Well, they give presents. For example, they give flowers, chocolates, or jewelry.
|
|
Variation: You could have students talk about one topic of their choice from the Snapshot and have others guess which one it is.
