Be a Dramatist
Objective: To review vocabulary learned throughout the unit
Steps:
- Have students form pairs. Ask each pair to write a dialog using 15 words or expressions from the Unit Summary. Encourage the students to be funny and creative.
- Monitor the students and be prepared to help as they work.
- Have students read out the dialogs when they have finished.
Example: The following example is for New Interchange 2, Unit 3: "Time for a Change!" The Unit Summary appears on p. S-4 of the Student's Book.

Example Dialog:
Kate: |
Hey, look! Here's an ad for an apartment! It's in a safe, convenient, and quiet neighborhood. |
Susan: |
Great! And it's large and modern. Sounds just what we want for our rock band! We can practice there on weekends. . . . |
Kate: |
Yeah. And the price is reasonable, too. Just right for a musician! Let's go see it! |
at the apartment |
Susan: |
Hi, we've come about the apartment. Can we see it, please? |
Owner: |
Sure. Come on in. Let's start with the living room. . . . |
afterward |
Kate: |
Well, I can see why it's not expensive. It's horrible! |
Susan: |
I know what you mean! It was so dingy, not large and modern at all. |
Kate: |
There wasn’t even enough space to put our guitars! |
Susan: |
Right. And it was noisy. There was a band next door did you hear it? |
|
Adaptation: This activity can be used for any Unit Summary in New Interchange. It can also be used to review vocabulary and expressions from several Unit Summaries at the same time.
Variation: Ask students to write a short story instead of a dialog. You could even have a short-story competition.
