Cambridge English Worldwide
Andrew Littlejohn and Diana Hicks
Cambridge English Worldwide is a new shorter course designed especially
for young students. It is based on material for Cambridge English for
Schools. The course consists of five levels plus a Starter level. Each
level provides 40 to 50 teaching hours, with optional material to provide
for courses of up to 60 hours.
The course features:
- a communicative, task-based approach
content and concepts which reflect students'
own lives, interests and studies
- an approach which is effective with mixed-ability
classes
- a clearly structured, active approach to grammar
- regular revision and evaluation
- integrated project work, including the unique Parcel of English scheme
- learner choice, decision-making and autonomy.
Components
Student's Book
Each Student's book contains six Themes. These contain two units: Topic
and Language Focus. Each Theme also contains an Optional Unit at the back
of the book, drawn from the Activity, Revision or Culture Matters units.
Workbook
The workbooks contain exercises to support the Topic and Language Focus
units, as well as Picture Dictionary sections, and an Optional Unit for
each Theme.
Listening and Speaking Pack
The Listening and Speaking Packs provide supplementary self-study practice
in listening, speaking and pronunciation, as well as Workbook listening
material, and the songs from the Class Cassette.
Class Cassette
A single cassette at each level provides a full listening resource to
accompany the Student's Book, including the songs.
Teacher's Book
This gives clear and thorough guidance on all aspects of the course, as
well as providing supplementary photocopiable worksheets.
A - Z of Methodology
This separate booklet gives a full methodological background to the teaching
notes in the Teacher's Book, and is relevant for all levels of the course.
Video
The Cambridge English for Schools videos are suitable for use with
Cambridge English Worldwide.
