The CD-ROM, an integral part of Cambridge Preparation for the TOEFL® Test, contains seven complete practice tests to help you prepare for the computer-based exam. It is included in the back of the book and is also available separately.
The main features on the CD-ROM include:
- Seven computer-based practice tests, which consist of the four tests that are found in the book and three additional tests that are not in the book.
- A Full Tutorial and a Quick Tutorial that explain how to answer questions on the Computer-Based TOEFL® Test. The animated Full Tutorial provides an opportunity for the user to try a question type after it is explained.
- The same icons as on the Computer-Based TOEFL® Test to familiarize you with the appearance of the computer screens on the test.
- Two options that give the choice of taking the test either as a simulated TOEFL® Test (Full Practice Tests) or with study aids during the test (Practice and Study). In Practice and Study, you can choose any section of any test.
- Several study aids in Practice and Study, including:
In the Listening, Structure, Reading, and Writing Sections
- Timer Off: allowing you an opportunity to take as much time as you need to complete a section
In the Listening, Structure, and Reading Sections
- Go To: moving immediately to any question within a section
- Instant Feedback: indicating right away whether you have answered a question correctly, explaining why, providing references to exercises in the book, and keeping a running score
In the Listening Section
- Show Text: displaying scripts of the test materials
- Replay: playing a conversation, discussion, or lecture again
- A bookmark option that allows you to stop the program during a test and come back to the same place to continue later.
- At the end of each test, a score summary and a review of answers to questions.
- A score history that tracks your progress.
- An answer key that explains the correct answers.
